We recently held our Annual School and Sports Summit event in Kansas City, Missouri.
This year’s special event, originally founded in 2012 as the Large School Summit for school photographers, was designed for studios that had $30k+ in lab school orders or $15K + in lab sports orders with H&H in 2022. The purpose for this event is to connect volume photography business owners to collectively discuss, problem solve, and plan for the future – all with the intent to help volume photography businesses grow!
As partner to so many small businesses across the country, one of the things we have come to recognize is running a business can be lonely; especially volume photography. At H&H, we do get a glimpse of the great things these businesses have accomplished. So this year, at the School and Sports Summit, we hosted our annual Summit Awards Ceremony, to remind and recognize many outstanding studios for their achievement in 2022.
The presenter of this year’s Summit Awards Ceremony was the leader of the Schools + Sports Programs at H&H Color Lab, Shawn Cantrell. Shawn commented, “We are proud to be a partner with so many high-quality photography studios. We are honored to be a resource for their school and sports photography services.”

2022 Schools Summit Award
The Schools Summit Award recognizes top businesses that have made significant strides in developing strong relationships with schools and have demonstrated excellence in school sales with the most school orders sales with H&H in 2022.

2022 Schools Sustainable Growth Award
The Schools Sustainable Growth Award recognizes achievement for the largest consistent growth in a three-year period amongst school photography businesses across the country. The award is given to an independent volume photography business that has increased its volume school business with H&H Color Lab at least two years and has shown the greatest percentage of annual growth over the last three years.

Entrepreneurial Spirit Award
In recognition of outstanding performance in acquiring a business and leading it forward during 2020-2022. These business owners had the capacity to acquire a business and run it a healthy way. When they took over the company, they had to deal with the outbreak of a pandemic. Not only did they lead it forward during a period of economic difficulty, but the business has experienced increased growth and vitality since the transition. The presenter of this year’s award was the head of Business Development at H&H Color Lab, David Drum. “I am incredibly proud of the remarkable achievements of these business owners.”, Dave commented at the ceremony. “Think about it; not only did they successfully acquire a company during the tumultuous years of 2020 to 2022, but despite all the challenges posed by the global pandemic, they showed unwavering determination and resilience in not only stabilizing the business but also driving it forward with increased growth and vitality. Their outstanding performance is a testament to their entrepreneurial spirit and exceptional leadership skills and we are grateful to have them as part of our team.”

2022 Marketing Excellence Award
Businesses with the most effective use of hhimagehost marketing campaigns to drive significant traffic and sales for their business.
The winners for this award were determined through careful review of the hhimagehost marketing metrics for the entire account for all of 2022. “Looking at the marketing campaigns and metrics, there are a few things that really stand out and convinced me of this year’s winners,” Shawn Cantrell observed, “Both winners had a 25%+ conversion rate with less than 3% unsubscribe rate.”

Legacy Award
This award is given In recognition of a lifetime of excellence in the photography industry for quality, customer service and building people. It is not given every year, but at major moments when outstanding recognition is due. The Legacy Award is not given to a business, but to an individual person and is one of the highest honors we bestow.
This year, in recognition of a lifetime of excellence in the photography industry for quality, customer service, building people, for hard work, a standout career and a long friendship with H&H Color Lab, we gave the 2022 Legacy Award posthumously to Robert Senn. David Drum presented the award to Robert’s two daughters and expressed, “It is a privilege to have known Robert as a friend and mentor. He always encouraged me to maintain a positive attitude, even in the toughest of times. I will always remember how he encouraged us all to ‘keep smiling’. His infectious smile and unwavering spirit will forever be remembered by all who have had the pleasure of working with him.”
